Het International Journal of Nursing Knowledge is het internationaal, peer-reviewed, wetenschappelijk tijdschrift van NANDA International, Inc. Het centrale thema van dit tijdschrift is: Defining the Knowledge of Nursing. Als je lid bent van NANDA International kun je alle artikelen helemaal lezen. Ook van artikelen uit het archief. Zo heb je gratis toegang tot de volledige tekst van alle artikelen. Sommige artikelen zijn ook full tekst beschikbaar voor niet leden. Voor alle andere andere artikelen is alleen de samenvatting beschikbaar.

Het doel van het journal is het verduidelijken van het kennisdomein van de verpleegkundige in internationale context. Ze publiceren artikelen over de reikwijdte van het verpleegkundig beroep, over wat verpleegkunde is, waarvoor een verpleegkundige individueel verantwoordelijk voor is en wat een verpleegkundige zelfstandig kan betekenen voor een patiënt, zonder tussenkomst of opdracht van een andere discipline.

De inhoud van de artikelen gaan ook over het verbeteren van de patiëntveiligheid. Ze doen dat door verpleegkundige diagnoses en standaarden te ontwikkelen, te verspreiden en het gebruik ervan in de praktijk te stimuleren. Het is ook bedoeld om onderwijs in klinisch en diagnostisch redeneren aan te moedigen en te zorgen voor wereldwijde consistentie in de conceptuele terminologie.
